Not a Rick Santorum fan - but a well done ad by their campaign.  Clever, muddy, negative, but funny and well cast.

I found this ad by CocaCola to be very interesting.  It’s consistent with it’s polar bear branding, but a bit conservative considering it was played during the superbowl.  It was interesting because the viewer response was radically different depending on if the viewer was male or female.  Men saw the commercial as boring and bland.  Women however thought the commercial was cute, comical and warm.

In this “Chain Event” commercial the focus is on the events that take place when you use the competitors product instead of their own.

The next few commercial’s I’ll be posting are what I call “chain event” commercials. Recently they’ve become quite popular among various brands.  These type of ads have a starting point (usually an action/dilemma), a story, and a conclusion.  It’s a simple and entertaining way to deliver a message.

The message of this Toshiba commercial for example is “We’ve thought of everything”.  After watching the ad you can see how the story cleverly, yet effectively communicates that they’ve thought every decision through, all the way down to the absence of wifi causing car accidents.

It’s rare that I look up a commercial online as soon as I see it on TV, but this was one such ad.  It does a great job at grabbing my attention as a sports fans by drawing me into the story line and then throwing in a “slamming” twist at the end.

This commercial by Korean Air has left a long standing impact on me.  I feel the urge to travel the world every time I see it, thus creating the need for transportation (via airline). The colors, cast, music, and scenery of this commercial combine to ingrain a powerful and sensual impression.

This is the business of helping people.  This is making tomorrow better than today.  This is giving joy to people who are holding on to hope.  Make a difference now.

Can’t really pin-point, but this commercial interests me.  There’s something here besides the clever door closing towards the end.  Usually I’m not a fan of the cheetah, but the brand image timing was perfectly placed this time.

I try to only display the advertisements that I feel are truly done well, but every once in a while it’s good to show an abismal ad for contrast.  Take for example this commercial from Hyundai.  It’s an awkward “fake” rap video that’s so choppy, confusing, and painful to watch that you can’t even remember what the cars look like.  Unfortunately their message is buried so deep under the desire to be funny that it makes the whole commercial completely ineffective at creating any connection with the viewer.

Talk about appealing to your target market.  This commercial by Pacifico makes me want to get in my car, round up my friends, pick up a six pack and jump into the Pacific Ocean. Great music, no words, and a perfect cast makes this message connect on an emotional level.

Going back to “The Date” commercial, here is an awesome follow up - the making of.

When you think beer in winter, Corona is one of the last beers that comes to mind.  Perhaps this new snowboarding themed commercial will change that.  Find your beach.

Thought this was a cool use of advertising on a coffee cup.  Definitely gets your attention in a bizarre way, doesn’t it?
